The 2025 viking football season was extraordinary. They fought their way back in the WIAA 4A Championship. However the season has come to an end, and for many of our players that means the end of an era. Many of our seniors’ football careers began in elementary school, these boys have played by each other’s sides for almost a decade.
All vikings work their way up and fight to be in a position to play on our field.
“It’s taught me a lot of personal things, like how to bounce back after something happens, and working together with my teammates and building a brotherhood,” senior Caleb Conolly said.
As the seniors wrap up their football season, each of them is preparing to take the next big step by heading off to different colleges and career paths. While their paths will lead them to new places and challenges, the shared experiences from their high school football days will always connect them. Moving on means embracing new opportunities, but the memories of their team spirit and hard work will stay with them no matter where they go.
“I’m going to Central for football,” senior Dylan Phinney said
“Eastern Washington,” senior Ted Kuhrau said.
The end of the season is not only affecting our seniors but our underclassmen as well, everyone is losing their team and the bonds they made. The Vikings are excited to see the new talent brought in for next year’s football season, all the boys are determined to fight their way back into the championship, same time next year.
“Brought a lot of new bonds and friends outside of football, and it brings me some sort of joy whenever days are down,” sophomore Jayden Hollenbeck said.
Our seniors will take what they learned from coaches, teammates and experiences from the field and apply them to their futures. For some, the season was the perfect way to end their football career, however some of our players are determined to continue their practices at the collegiate level with the valuable skills and memories to carry forward.
“Eastern Washington,” senior Kuhrau said.
The college options for the seniors vary depending on their goals and opportunities. Some may be heading to local universities or trade schools. This transition marks not just the end of a season, but the beginning of a new journey, full of promise and growth for each player moving forward.
