Every other Friday, Lake Stevens High School students come together and partake in an unofficial spirit day. A small group thinks of themes like performative males to blue-collar workers, all the way to frat boys and then posts them on an Instagram page @fittedfridays_lshs. Fitted Friday, a student-run organization, is a great way to make new friends, meet new people, and connect with different groups. It can also allow for different grade levels to connect, making younger Vikings feel more included at LSHS.
Fitted Fridays are celebrated in the student parking lot every other Friday before school but are continued throughout the day as students wear their themed attire.
Think back to a spirit day when someone was wearing something goofy or cool, and you took notice and had a laugh.
What if every other Friday students were dressed up in something new that is fun and exciting? While yes, there are spirit weeks, but they are few and far apart. More people want to show their LSHS spirit more than once every other month.
“Well, I think spirit weeks are pretty sparse, and a lot of times when they do happen, people feel like they’re not like the best themes. So Fitted Fridays are a way for more themes, more chances to participate. Yeah, and it’s just a different form of school spirit. So I’m all about any type of school spirit,” senior Ana Joehnk said.

More school spirit creates a better, more positive environment at LSHS. Our high school feeds off of good energy and spirit. The more of it, the better our school atmosphere will be.
“It brings a more fun environment to almost everywhere around your teachers and students look over and they think something goofy is going on, it just brings smiles. People’s faces light up, lightening up their day,” senior Koen Knutson said.
This student-run group is already making an impact on our school, and the more people participate the greater the impact will be. Some people might be concerned about where to get their outfits or not having the funds for their outfits.
“It’s either I already have it or I’ll go to like Ross or somewhere like that, and just pick out something cheap. It’s like thrift stores,” senior Nate Cleary said.
Everyone can participate in Fitted Fridays and continue making our school even more of a fun and spirited place. The energy at LSHS affects everyone including students, teachers, staff alike.
When people don’t participate, or when there’s negativity or exclusion, it makes the school feel boring or uninviting. But when we show up with school pride, positive vibes, and a willingness to have fun, we turn Lake Stevens high school into a place where people want to be.
Fitted Fridays are a perfect way to do that. When everyone joins in, it brings the school together, boosts morale, and makes the halls feel alive and welcome. Plus, it helps new and younger students feel welcomed and excited to be a part of this community.
So keep dressing up, showing out and making fitted Fridays a tradition that makes LSHS shine.
