New school nurse joins Viking staff

Heather Smith welcomed with open arms

Lake Stevens High School welcomes many new staff members throughout the school year. As of late, our school has just welcomed another member to the staff and the new member is Heather Smith, who will be taking the position of the school nurse.

Smith worked at the Everett Clinic as an EMT before coming to our school. Her decision to leave that job to become a nurse was a goal of hers ever since she was little.

“I always wanted to be a nurse.”

“As an EMT, I took patients to see the nurses in the hospital, so I knew then that I wanted to be the person inside helping those people,” said nurse Smith

To go into a career of nursing, there are some important traits that a person needs to have in order to be success. Some of these traits include  “being patient and being able to multitask,” Smith said. In 3 words she is described as patient, smart, and understanding,  which makes her a great choice for the job.

In her free time, Smith enjoys some fun activities too. “I like camping and paddle boarding, but I can’t do any of those now that it’s raining,” Smith said.

It is only her first week here, so if you happen to go by the nurse’s office, feel free to stop by and say hi to our lovely new nurse.
