As Lake Stevens winter sports are starting up, the wrestling team is now officially starting their preseason preparation. Their practices started on Nov. 17 so they could create a bond and improve all of their skills and moves before they start.
The girls wrestling season officially started and had their first matches on Dec. 4 against Archbishop. The team is all prepared for the season to start their season off with their first matches.
Due to this, they have been focusing more on preparing for the season and getting ready for their first matches.
“To prepare for the season I have been going to morning practices and different preseason events,” sophomore Lily Ganal said.
The team has shown their dedication through their preparation and showing up in the preseason. Now they get to show their dedication and how hard they have all worked.
“The practices have been very focused on drilling and teaching us the basics and how to defend against them,” sophomore Ren Lauer said.
Like Lauer said, the coaches want the wrestlers to have the basics moves and easier defenses to get perfected. Lauer said that she really likes the drilling and the dedication it takes to be on the team.
The season is off to a pretty good start with multiple matches won throughout the team, with everything that they have worked on recently, and how hard everyone has been working. They are on track at this point in the season to make it to state like they are all hoping for.
