Places to go, and things to see; what to do for Presidents’ day weekend
If you’re stumped on what to do for this extended weekend, we’ve got you covered.
February 11, 2016
Presidents’ Day lands on February 15, an unfortunately less than ideal day as far as weather goes; rainy, cloudy, and at most, 55 degrees. The weather may not be optimal to be able to throw some kind of spectacular barbecue, but if a little rain (a lot of rain?) is no hinderance to an adventurous side, hiking Lake 22 will result in experiencing an amazing view. The Ice Caves are also an easy and much loved hike, and is perfect for the season.
Along with hiking, there are plenty of movies awaiting at the theater. There are some very intriguing action flicks:13 Hours: The Secrets of Benghazi, which details this controversial event; and The Revenant, which is based on a true story, and is spectacular in every sense of the word, earning it multiple Oscar nominations.
Looking for something a little lighter? The Choice is a romance created by none other than Nicholas Sparks, and Ride Along 2, Fifty Shades of Black, and Hail Caeser are featured comedies also playing at local cinemas . In case you’ve got younger siblings in tow as well, Kung-Fu Panda 3 is also available for viewing. However, there is only one paranormal/psychological thriller out for this Presidents’ Day, but it’s gotten good reviews, The Boy.
If movies don’t sound exciting enough, midnight bowling didn’t stop being cool in middle school- It’s cheaper than a movie ($6 at Glacier Lanes.) and you can laugh as loud as you want.
As winter winds down, don’t miss your last chance to get in some season-appropriate ice skating for only $10 at the Comcast Arena in Everett.
If all else fails, kick back, eat some good food (Pizza shaped like Mt. Rushmore, anyone?), and argue with your loved ones over who REALLY should have won Super Bowl 50. It’s a four-day weekend after all, make the most of it, even with the rain! (And don’t forget to sing Honest Abe Happy Birthday this Friday, February 12.)
