Founded in 1886 as a resort town dedicated to fun summers with campers and visitors, Lake Stevens began as a prime location for enjoying the outdoors. The lake has been a big staple to the development of the town, from the places built around it to the families that have created homes near it.
Today, the lake is one of the most beautiful and popular spots in Lake Stevens to hang out at, with multiple public access points and many private docks. Along with the lake, there are other popular spots around the town that allow teens to get together.
North Cove
North Cove is one of, if not the most popular, places in Lake Stevens that sits in the center of downtown. This park offers a small playground with cool toys like swings and slides suitable for kids and teens. The park also has a big patch of grass for lounging or playing outdoor games that connects to a small beach that has a big dock where you will see people tanning, running, and jumping off. With all this park has to offer, it has become a town favorite, especially in the summer.
“I enjoy going down there in the summer and just hanging out and meeting new people,” junior Eliyanah Arends said.
Lundeen Park
Lundeen Park is located off of Lundeen Road on the north side of the lake. It has a big playground suitable for little kids and older kids. The lake access offers a small, closed-off swim area for people to enjoy. This park also offers a covered area, which can be rented out, and has benches and a grill, making it great for birthday parties, get-togethers, or meetings in the summer.
“It’s a nice open area for everyone to hangout at. I enjoy it because that’s where I spent most of my summer with my group of friends,” junior Sarah Nguyen said.
Sunset Beach Park
Sunset Beach Park is a small public access point where a lot of people, especially teens, tend to hang out. The park got its name from the stunning sunset views that you can view from the top benches or down on the dock.
“Especially during this time it’s really good for the sunset view and mountain view,” junior Melody Roldan said.
Target
Target is a semi-popular spot in Lake Stevens. The spot has a large parking lot where many teens hang out and get together in their cars. This Target offers a Starbucks, which is great for people who want a snack or a nice drink when they shop. The workers are nice and always know how to help when needed. This is a favorite spot for some people, like junior Lucy Koumaros.
“It is a very fun store to hang out with your friends in, and it has everything you could possibly need,” Koumaros said.
Overall
The town offers great places for teens to hang out and make long-lasting memories. These are just some of the spots voted as most popular around town. Beyond these, there are many more small spots that can be as enjoyable and entertaining as some of the ones showcased like Games Plus, IHOP, Happy Lemon, The Chicken Drive In and even the high school.
