Senior year is filled with so many exciting activities, sports events and class-wide gatherings that fulfill the last year seniors have together. With this, many have started to focus on where they are headed post-graduation.
After a survey was sent out to all LSHS seniors, 66% of all responses received said they plan to attend college the next academic school year.
One of those responses was senior Madison Bennett, who says she is fully committed to Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
“I am majoring in Rehabilitation Sciences with the hope of going into physical therapy. As I got older, I became more interested in learning about the human body, and with that, physical therapy kind of just filled both the places of learning about the human body and helping people,” Bennett said.
Senior Autumn Norgaard expresses that she chose to attend WSU due to her sister’s influence. Her sister currently attends Washington State. WSU is known for the connections they have with their students and how everyone feels at home. She went to visit and recognized that the college environment in Pullman was very exciting.
“When I went and visited, it’s just like a really great town. It’s like a college town, so it’s really fun,” Norgaard said.
Although college is an outstanding decision after graduation, the other 34% of responses from the survey deserve the same recognition. Many have answered that they are attending trade school, going into the military, taking a gap year, EMT training, culinary school, working in stock and the fire academy.
One senior falling under this category is Keegan Brown, who plans on going straight into trade school with hopes of becoming an electrician.
“I am planning on moving to Missouri to go straight into work. I have a lot of family down there. I really enjoy it, it feels like home,” Brown said.
No matter which plan each senior has ahead of them, the opportunities are endless.
