Mac & cheese drive aids the Ronald McDonald house
DECA constructs Mac&Cheese Drive
October 9, 2015
Donating for a worthy cause gives people warm feelings of satisfaction – feelings just as warm as a nice bowl of mac & cheese. DECA devised their Mac & Cheese Drive, held between October 12-16, and donations will still be open throughout the next week. All proceeds will go directly to the Ronald McDonald House on October 25, helping those who don’t have the time or means to be able to buy meals while their children are receiving medical care.
Having donated non-perishable food items to the Ronald McDonald House before, DECA gives the families of children who don’t always have a place to go when they need medical care, an opportunity to stay by their side when they are in the hospital. A significant reason for DECA choosing to give to the Ronald McDonald House is that past students have benefitted personally by the foundation.
“It’s a good way to actually give back to the community and to help the people that really need it the most,” Williams said.
In addition to helping others, the Mac & Cheese Drive is a way for the students and first period teachers to engage in a friendly competition.
“DECA will be providing every first period teacher with a cardboard box,” Williams said. “On the 16th, we’ll come around and count it up, and we’ll announce the winner at the Homecoming Assembly. Winner gets Costco muffins.”
Take action and donate to those in need. Make a difference and share as much mac & cheese as possible for the children and families of the Ronald McDonald house.
