Importance of wearing a mask when going out in public
In order to stop the spread of COVID-19, covering your mouth and nose with a homemade mask is of the utmost importance

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has recommended that everyone wear a face mask when going out in public. Some stores have even begun requiring employees to wear masks when at work to control the spread of the Coronavirus.
The Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, can be spread by an infected person coughing, sneezing or speaking within 6 feet of another person. When an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks, respiratory droplets expel from the person’s mouth and can travel to another person standing nearby or land on an object where another person may touch the object, then their eyes, nose, or mouth. Some people may not even show symptoms for the first fourteen days or even at all but still be contagious. This is why it is very important to wear a protective mask over your mouth and nose when going out in public.
A surgical mask will not only protect an infected person from expelling respiratory droplets and spreading the virus but will also protect a non-infected person from direct contact of the virus. Now, because of the high demand of face masks, prices have skyrocketed. They are very hard to find in stock, but people are not letting that stop them.
Some people have even started making their own face masks! All you need is fabric, a needle and thread, and some elastic. Check out the photo for a step- by- step DIY face mask.
