Madelynn Butler (she/her) is a senior this year and joined the Vahalla staff because she was interested in writing for the school newspaper. Madelynn is a part of the school swim team as well as a club team and enjoys painting and drawing in her free time. She hopes to swim in college, and in the future become an accountant or an elementary school teacher.

Motivation is Key: Motivation at the end of the year is hard, and doing anything to keep your mind on track is great. Jaidyn Foutch wrote in her planner to stay on track for the end of the year. The hardest part of the end of the year is trying to get all the work turned in and done the way you wanted without having your grade drop, junior Kayla Stewart said.

Tunes with views: Watershed is a country music concert that everyone goes to have fun and hang out with friends, for a whole weekend of fun. Everyone was there listening to music and hanging with their friends having a good time listening to all of the country music and their favorite artists. Football state sendoff: The entire football team prepares to get on the bus for the state championship game. Being the only state sendoffs that happened, everyone waited to see how it went. I think a send-off is a good idea, but the way that it was done in the timing that it was done, I think was off. I think that all groups should be celebrated - and not only football. I think everyone should get praise because theres a lot of stuff even I didnt know about, like Robotics and all that type all these clubs, DECA, and nationals, senior Gavin Quayle said.

No Zoom: With snow falling outside and hot cocoa heating up with a gingerbread house being made; students wont do online learning while the snow is falling outside. Even though students learned online for the past two years, LSSD will return to the traditional snow day structure. I think the school and teachers are going to try to get kids to do online learning, but me personally, Im going outside and Im playing the snow, senior Connor White said.

Before the big race, the cross country girls were huddled together preparing for the Twilight invitational with having a good chance of going to state. Theres a lot of fast underclassmen and the guys are also doing really good and they might have a chance to go to state, but I think the girls have a bigger chance, senior Mckenzie McLeod.
