Lake Stevens Football Team has been the team to beat for a long time. After collecting plenty of accolades over the years, having some great players and records, it’s become “normal” to expect wins most nights from this team. For the majority of students and spectators of the Vikings, success has become the expectation. However, there is an aspect that often goes unseen for these players.
The football team devotes a large amount of unseen time to the sport; During the offseason, summer and after school. Most of these players spend the majority of their day playing the sport.
“I don’t really like to think about how we’re the number 1 team in the state. I just think that every game is a big game and we need to win it,” senior player Austyn Rembold-Hyde said.
Even with all these expectations, the players try to stay focused. The mentality going into each game isn’t affected by wins, losses, or crowd; the team knows that each game is important. Pressure or not, this team is known to get the job done, and has made this season no different. They still have an undefeated record and are hoping to keep it that way.
