Girls this season participate and get active for basketball
December 3, 2019
Fall sports is coming to an end, and now it is time for the girls at Lake Stevens High School to play and participate in winter sports. One winter sport the girls from Lake Stevens tryout for and participate in is basketball. During the basketball season, the girls will play a total of 20 games.
This year, the girls basketball team hopes to improve their record and are eager to win state as they did two years ago. The LSHS girls basketball program has had many girls go on to play at the college level, and this year is no different. Senior Regan Reed has committed to Boise State University and is ready to be a leader on the team in her final season.
“Last year I wasn’t much of a leader, but this year I really want to motivate the girls this year and push them to win every game and possibly win state, but my main goal is to make sure they are having fun playing for Lake Stevens basketball,” senior Regan Reed said.
In basketball, players are always eager to improve each year because it helps them boost their game. When you improve your stats from the previous year in high school basketball, it can really help you for college, like getting a scholarship or going to college for basketball.
“My goal this year is to make varsity basketball and to improve my scoring, rebounding, and my steals. What I’m looking forward to this year is to train and improve my game because when it all pays off I can really help the team out and really impress others,” said junior Emma Lund.
This year the girls on varsity are really determined to win this season and hope to put an impact for the rest of the teams in Wesco They are hungry to play.
