October 23, 2019
It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year. The days get shorter, the weather gets colder, and Lake Stevens starts another year of fall sports. Sports such as cross country, boys tennis, and football are making waves in athletics, representing Lake Stevens High School like they do every year.
The boys’ Lake Stevens Cross Country team is sprinting towards success this season, with all boys trying their hardest and going the distance, their placement in WESCO will not come as a surprise when they compete. In the sport u are competing individually to represent your team and it’s important to feel close with your teammates. Lucky for Lake Stevens Boys’ Cross country team they are all supportive of each other’s goals and are always pushing each other to achieve them.
“The team aspect is my favorite thing about Cross Country. It’s like a family, we all know each other and are therefore one and another,” junior Owen Flinn said.
Boys’ Tennis caused a racket, as the fall season begins, with a current record of 14-2. The team is honorable in how they label themselves. They follow rules and codes passed down to them by their coaches to make them great players and even better people.
“On and off the court, we are always respectful, a good teammate, and a good leader. The team always follows our three core values community, character, and competition,” senior Tyler Cochran said.
Lake Stevens Football is tackling the competition this fall as well, with an undefeated record currently, and play offs close in site. The team takes what they do very seriously and never slows down. The sport is their life, and they will do what is necessary to win each game they play.
“We run drills everyday that help us be the best we can for games we are playing, and the drills are very intense, we all go one hundred percente during practice ruining our drills and in the games,” junior Cameron Hunter said.
