With an undefeated season, the Girls Swim team is ready to dominate districts. Senior Kara Libra, one of the two seniors who have advanced to the districts level, has made sure to put in the highest attention to detail to each of her events, knowing it could make the difference.

“My events are the 50 and 100 free, and the 200 and 400 free relays. I have been working on fine tuning every part of my race, since as a sprinter if one thing is a little off I will game time. So I’m working on my starts, turns, and my reach in my strokes so that I can sprint as fast as I possibly can,” Libra said.

Libra credits her coaches’ enthusiasm and motivation for helping the team accomplish one of their most successful seasons ever.

“Coach Sarah Summers and Coach Brady have been putting the winning mindset in all of our heads. Competing is definitely more mental than physical so in order for all of us to do the best we can they are giving us the confidence and support we need,” Libra said.

According to Libra, the team’s success can also be credited to their overall skill and precision.

“The reason we went undefeated again this year is not because we win every race, but because we have a lot of good swimmers, whereas, [most] teams only have a few really fast swimmers and then no depth below them,” Libra said.

Although only a portion of the swim team has advanced to compete at districts, Libra believes that every member of the team carries their own weight and has helped to get them to districts.

“Our biggest strength is our support for each other. Without all of us, every single person, we wouldn’t be strong as a team,” Libra said.
