Fifth graders get a taste of the viking experience
On February 8 and 9, the LSHS drumline and wind ensemble introduced fifth graders from the six elementary schools in the district: Glenwood, Highland, Hillcrest, Mt. Pilchuck, Skyline, and Sunnycrest to the power of music.
Lake Steven’s Wind Ensemble welcomes fifth graders to the high school for the annual Little Viking Band days. This program was designed to increase the number of students who register for band at North Lake Middle School and Lake Stevens Middle School. These two days provided fifth graders with the opportunity to see what the high school band is all about and what they could be doing should they continue until their high school years. “If we didn’t plant the little band seeds in their minds then our program might start to shrink and honestly that's a bit sad to think about,” junior bass clarinet player David Sickles said.
