Lake girls pass off the baton in another successful track season.

As LSHS runs through the finish line of the 2018- 2019 school year, it can look back on a season filled with successful meets. Track and field is always about trying new things and expanding your experience in different events.

“I trained as a runner this year instead of jumping, and it was nice,” senior Thaddeus Newman said.

Track has so many different events and is a huge school sport. There are events for any athlete.  But, one student likes to run long distances.

“ [I do] multiple [events] like all the distance ones, mile, 2 mile, 800, and 4×4,” junior Jessie Schneider said.

Track also isn’t just about running, it’s about meeting new people and making friends. That’s what keeps certain athletes going.

“I ran and talked with my friends, and it was fun,” sophomore Emma Lund said.

Track can be a great way to make new friends. All the coaches want their runners to do well, but also want them to have a good experience and have fun with it. Track can take students very far, such as get a scholarship to college or teach them life skills. This school year’s track season has proven to be a victorious one.
