L-E-T-S G-O to cheer tryouts next week

Come show some skills next week as the Lake Stevens High School Cheer Team holds tryouts for next season

If encouraging and empowering students at Lake Stevens while making a difference and making others feel accepted and happy is the call of a Lake Stevens High School cheerleader. Its being an ultimate leader and representing your school. But anyone can tryout. Weather the girls trying out have been cheering for years or its their first time it doesn’t matter; come try out for the team.

Tryouts will be held next week Monday April 18 through Friday April 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the main gym, with an optional day Thursday April 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Tryouts are over five days. The first three days are ran by the senior cheerleaders and are spent learning and perfecting a cheer, chant, and dance. Thursday is an optional to get extra practice and help. Tryouts are Friday after school in small groups and participants perform the material learned as well as their own cheer in front of a panel of judges,” said the Cheerleading Coach Randi VanHooser.

For the seniors running tryouts this year it’s a bit of a bittersweet experience.

“Time really flew by! It really amazes me how fast time can go by when you’re doing something you love. Although it is sad that I won’t be a part of the squad this following year, it gives me a lot of heart and hope for all these girls that are trying out. I’m excited for what the future holds for each and every one of them,” said senior cheerleader Merica Xiong.

The senior cheerleaders are excited to be able to help the girls trying out succede to the best of their ability. Finding girls that represent Lake Stevens, and are proud to be purple and gold.
“We are looking for well rounded individuals and are really looking for the “leader” part in our cheerleaders,” said Coach VanHooser.

Anyone can show what their made of next week at tryouts, it’s sure to be an unforgettable and fun experience.
