The end of the school year for the graduating Class of 2025 is rapidly approaching. One of the most impactful dynamics in the Lake Stevens High School halls is the friendships between juniors and seniors.
While these connections often begin casually through shared classes or mutual friends, they leave lasting marks far beyond graduation.
“I would love to still keep in touch with my junior friends, I made many good memories with them, and I would like to still keep in touch with them,” senior Jamie Avalos Torres said.
On June 6, 2025, seniors will be relieved of their final year of high school.
When asked if she had any former senior friends she still kept in touch with, “My friend Jett, we’re very close friends still,” senior Kayla Gransee said.
Gransee is close friends with junior Alec Jones, whom she plans to keep in touch with after graduation.
Senior and junior friendships remind us that connection matters more than age and can last long term.
The relationship between seniors and juniors becomes so strong they still keep in touch after

high school. Senior friends can provide advice to the junior friends that they can then use in their own senior year.
“Something my senior friend taught me was to focus on my work and not skip class,” junior Jayden Torres-Gutierrez said.
Seniors not only can give fresh advice, they can also share their experience, help with homework, prom experiences and school fundraisers. The seniors can also help with choosing classes or applying for colleges.
“I want to go to EvCC to do the cosmetology program after graduating,” Avalos-Torres said.
These friendships are more than just coincidence. They are proof that sometimes, the best support system for a junior is a senior friend.
“I’m gonna be bored because it’s fun to talk to him and the whole friend group,” Torres-Gutierrez said.
Seniors and juniors, don’t underestimate the power of friendship. With social media, friendships have the potential to last after one of them leaves high school. It may seem impossible at the moment, but with effort and communication, everything will work out.
