The “dark days”, the time period in which Skyward nor Qmlativ will be accessible, will occur from April 3, 2025 to April 11, 2025 as Skyward finalizes its migration into Qmlativ.
“I’ve heard about the fact that most of the state has already switched over. Lots of students and teachers are irritated by the switch part of the way through the year, and not just finishing the year and switching over during summer,” senior Hailee Norman said.
Where is this information posted?
Information about the switch from Skyward 2.0 to Skyward Qmlativ on e-News for March as well as the LSSD website. Much of the provided information is listed on both of these sites and has been made available to staff, teachers and families.
Why the switch?
Skyward is changing the system as it is becoming outdated and impossible to upgrade. Qmlativ is a more powerful, flexible system that provides faster, more efficient processing and performance.
“Our current grading system, Skyward, is like an old version that the company has made, and it’s phasing its way out. So Qmlativ, the new grading system, is essentially the Skyward 2.0, the better version of it,” Spanish teacher Matt Bettencourt said.
The switch will provide enhanced functionality for student information, payroll, finance and human resources, as well as improve efficiency and accessibility for families and employees.
The switch is happening mid-year because districts are generally migrated during April or during the summer. In partnership with NWRDC (Northwest Regional Data Center), it was decided that Lake Stevens will be migrating during April 2025.
