Since the 2024 bond failed in the 2024 election, Lake Stevens School District will rerun the school construction improvements bond election on Feb. 11, 2025.
The school district revised the bond proposal in hopes of gaining the 60 percent threshold required to approve it. This bond recognizes and addresses an exponential growth of enrollment that led to a higher demand for expanded school spaces, replacing aged infrastructure, safety, and security enhancements throughout the district, and improved learning environments to better the students of LSSD.
Without the 60 percent approval, the district will be set back in terms of improving the basic needs of safety and security that the LSSD so desperately needs. Even though the residents, faculty, and staff of LSSD voted for a total of 15,200 in favor of the 2024 bond, they came up short of the total number of votes needed.
District staff people have been seen waving signs on Highway 9 to gain more attention for the upcoming election.
Lake Stevens School District and concerned residents hope to surpass this requirement of 60 percent in favor and get started immediately on the improvements for the betterment of LSSD students and staff. This bond is to support and protect the bright futures of LSSD as they grow and expand their knowledge while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Be sure to complete the mail-in ballots and return them by Feb. 11, 2025, so that Lake Stevens School District can keep up with its growth and ever-changing needs.
