The 2024 winter dance is on Friday, Sept. 23. At least it was supposed to be. This year’s winter dance unfortunately has been canceled due to not enough tickets being sold. The Sophomore Class Senate needed to sell 150-200 tickets to host the dance, but they came short with only about 95 tickets sold.
Although they are bummed about the dance being canceled, the Sophomore Senate came together when needed and got the work done. They had fun while doing it too, even though the dance was canceled, the sophomore class was excited to plan it and set up for it,
“We spent around 20-30 hours staying after school to work on decorations, flyers, posters, and finances. That’s not counting the hours we spent at home, during school hours, or at meetings before school,” sophomore Ana Joehnk said.
All of the planning and preparation was not a complete waste of time.
“I think my favorite part was bonding with my classmates and being able to be creative and have freedom of what we want to do,” sophomore Jillian De Los Angeles said.
The Sophomore Class Senate hears the school telling them that a dance was not what they wanted. They are already talking about their next step to put this dance behind them and move forward with another school-wide event.
