Lake Stevens High School is proud to welcome two new people to the party: Melissa Hughes as an office professional and Marci Bachand as the registrar. April 8 marked their first week
Welcome aboard Marci Bachand!
Bachand, can be found in the Counseling Center. While this is her first time holding the title, Bachand brings a strong background in business-related records, a skill set that translates well to managing student data, transcripts and academic records.
Bachand shared that her decision to join the education field was driven by her belief in the importance of continuous learning.
“I wanted to be a part of the community,” she said. “and I believe education is one of the best ways to do that.”
Though Bachand’s new to the registrar position, she is eager to dive in, lock in and make an impact. She’s especially enthusiastic about working with students and contributing to the school’s spirit.
Welcome aboard, Melissa Hughes!
If you have ever walked into the Main office and been greeted with a warm smile in the last couple of months, then chances are, it was Melissa Hughes. More than just a friendly face, Hughes will play a vital role in keeping the school running smoothly–and building a positive environment for both students and staff as they walk through the doors.
Already, Hughes is known for organizing “staff fun-days” and helping coordinate the “Student of the Month” program. She’s also a key link between the school, students, and their parents, always striving to create a positive and welcoming community.
Before stepping into her current role, Hughes worked as a paraeducator, where she focused on students with IEP’s and 504 plans. She spent years helping kids learn how to read, primarily working with kindergarten through third grade.
“It was such a rewarding position,” she shared, reflecting on her time helping young learners build the foundation for lifelong skills.
Hughes’s passion for education is matched only by her dedication to her family. She’s a proud mom of six sons, and one of them is currently a freshman at Cavelero Mid High School, where he does wrestling, making Melissa not just a staff member, but also part of our school family in more ways than one.
These newest Vikings are ready to be helpful to the student body and staff.
