Those attending school are persistently surrounded by other students. Whether or not a person wants it to be, their peers are a fundamental part of life.
The people one surrounds themselves with will significantly affect their success in school, whether it’s positive or negative. What prompts this?
A peer that positively impacts academic performance possesses qualities of being dedicated to their work, focusing and valuing education rather than being distracting and disruptive.
Having healthy relationships with these devoted people can result in enhanced engagement, motivation and support, leading to better scholastic performance.
“I definitely think having good relationships with my peers makes me more successful because it’s motivating to come to school every day when I get to see people that I love being around and love talking to,” senior Addy Baker said.
There are also negative ways students can impact each other academically, and that would be by someone who is less disciplined in their work.
How can everyone ensure they’re being positively impacted?
Students who care for their grades should cut out distracting people during class time when possible if they’re looking for improvement. Another step would be surrounding oneself with those who are engaged in school because they will be able to encourage and foster support when necessary.
“I think my peers make me more successful because if I ever need help on anything, they’re able to give me guidance,” junior Cora Jones said.
Overall, the quality of a person’s relationship with their peers and who they surround themselves with can impact academic performance.
