As graduation approaches, seniors are starting to apply to colleges and trying to figure out what to do after graduation. Some of them have dreams of entering the medical field, following family traditions to new goals guiding their future. Seniors are pursuing higher education, but they’re trying to carve out meaningful careers for themselves.
“I want to go to EvCC and transfer to Bellevue College for ultrasonography,” senior Perla Guzman said.
Guzman mentioned that her focus is sonography, a profession that has fascinated her since her brother was born. Individuals who pursue this career often end up working as ultrasound techs. This career pays about $98,945 annually, and the job is estimated to grow by 14.3% in the next 10 years.
“I always wanted to be in the medical field, but I wanted to become a doctor, but that changed when I got into middle school… I’ve always liked babies, and after my baby brother was born, I realized that’s what I wanted to do,” Guzman said.
Senior Giulia Lopez-Borghini has an interesting plan after graduation.
“I’m gonna move to Italy with my family and work…There is a college in Florence, Italy that focuses a lot on nursing programs. I plan to go there in the summer,” Lopez-Borghini said.
Regardless of the path she chooses, the decisions made now will shape her future.
“I grew up being in hospitals a lot, and looking at the doctors and nurses helping people kind of got me into liking that career,” Lopez-Borghini said.
Closer to Lake Stevens, senior Mardin Mohammad Zadeh is waiting for a response from college applications in Washington.
“My plan after high school is to be a college student at Central Washington University. I applied, and I’m waiting for a response,” Zadeh said.
Mohammad said family traditions and a love for soccer shaped his career aspirations.
“My new dream is to become a successful coach for soccer. I will accomplish that by getting into sports management and coaching in college…I figured I wanted to do this because it’s kind of like a family tradition. My dad played soccer,” Zadeh said.
As seniors prepare for their next steps, it’s clear that they have set goals and passions they want to accomplish. They are ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The Class of 2025 is stepping into the future, eager to turn their dreams into reality.
