On April 26 the LSHS girls tennis team faces off against Mariner High School with senior Bernadette Miles and junior Ryann Rasmussen playing first doubles. With a killer season of 10 wins and only one loss under their belt, the team is coming prepared to their last regular season matches. “Our team is kicking some butt. I’m really proud of everyone. We’re a relatively young team. We only have a handful of seniors, so I think it's awesome how our sophomores and juniors are still able to compete with everyone,” senior Shaylen Huot said.

Brent Barnes gets fired up on the sidelines while coaching. “The relationships over time that you create with your athletes is the biggest part, the part that you take with you, not the wins and losses and the banners and the trophies,” said Barnes. After six months of waiting for spring sports to start, students put in the effort to show off their talent and be placed in the sport of their liking. The coaches have started to set their goals for this year’s group of athletes that are lucky to be on their roster. “We will have some experienced players with a history of success in our top three varsity positions, but we will be relatively inexperienced at the other three spots and will rely upon a group of girls who have only been on the team for a year,” Coach Larry Palmer said.
