With only three games left to play, the 2024-2025 baseball season is ending with a record of 11-5 and second in WESCO, closely trailing behind Kamiak High School. Kamiak currently has a one-game lead, but the Vikings hope to come back and secure the number one spot and take home the WESCO title again.
These Vikings have already outperformed last year’s team. The 2023-2024 season ended with 10 wins and 12 losses along with five wins and four losses in the WESCO division.
“It’s been a really good season so far, and we’ve overcome a lot of struggles,” senior Aalona Demartin said.
End of season for seniors
Many players on the team who are seniors, such as Demartin, are in their final weeks as a Viking.
Baseball has been a large part of many players’ lives with some playing for as long as they can remember and have created many great memories and new friendships along the way.
“It’s flown by, but you know, hoping to keep it alive during the playoffs. But baseball has taught me a lot about friendships and leadership,” Demartin said.
All the players want to win and play well, but for seniors, there is extra motivation to end their year on a good note.
“We just had a hard series against Jackson. We prevailed. We swept them. So hoping to do the same with Arlington as our next series. Then hopefully onto the district,” Demartin said.
As it comes down to the end, keep your eyes open as the seniors play their last couple of games and as the Vikings make a late-season run to secure the 4A WESCO title once again.
