Emilie James (she/her) found journalism intriguing because she liked the thought of being involved with something important to the school. She has never been in any clubs outside of school so she thought that being a part of a team effort like journalism would be fun because of the number of new opportunities. Emilie has lived here in Lake Stevens since 3rd grade and is now a junior. Before school started, she used to work at a restaurant, but she quit so that she could focus more on school because the workload from the restaurant and school is too stressful. She doesn’t really have any specific plans at the moment for after high school, but she is interested in the medical field.

A Total Success: One of the posters for the play, Clue, displays the main cast of the performance. It was executed well- from props and sets to its casting. “It’s pretty inspiring, I think, that people my age were able to accomplish something like this,” junior Bella Maxwell said.

Is There Still Hope? The effects of climate change are severe. There are some organizations, however, that have been working to keep the world a little safer. “The EPA’s partners have reduced over 345 million tons of greenhouse gases in 2010 alone - equivalent to the emissions of 81 million vehicles - and saving consumers and businesses about $21 billion,” the EPA said.

Students trudge to school at 8:00 am on a cloudy, cold morning. Even after the schools began starting half an hour later, most of LSHS’ students are still not getting enough sleep. This has caused them to fall asleep in their classes, which can lead to missing important lessons, more homework.

Most students fail to get the recommended amount of sleep at night

The CDC recommends that youth between the ages of 13 and 18 get 8-10 hours of sleep at night, but according to them only 27% of students do.

There are nearly 5 million people in Washington alone that are fully vaccinated! The number of people fully vaccinated rapidly increased in a span of only a month and a half, by around 1,204,885, according to Our World Data as of October 25, 2021. The current number of vaccinations has reached approximately 4.8 million. Yet, "it's too soon to tell how COVID-19 will effect Holiday gatherings," says Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of NIAID.
