Furry Friends: Dog owners over the pandemic start to see issues arising in their dogs. The COVID-19 lockdown led to many people getting dogs, who started to see behavioral issues with their pets as time went on. “It’s the people that only see ‘a dog has to go in this box’, and it can’t be outside of that box,” junior Christina Derry said.

Last Resort: The Lake Stevens School District settles on a base plan in case of another emergency shutdown. Students voiced their thoughts and opinions regarding changes they want to see. “I’ve noticed huge gaps this year in the skills students who worked well at home over the past two years and those who didn’t, so I’ve got one level of students that is right on track… and then another level of students who is very behind,” Kelly Guilfoil said.

Sunshine and Rainbows: The way LGBTQ+ students experience a ‘progressive’ high school, while helpful, isn’t always perfect. Despite legislative changes, students continue to see hateful and discriminatory actions from their peers. “There are still a few students I’ve encountered who have not been respectful regarding my identity or self-expression. If possible, I believe educating students on respecting gender identity, even if it’s little nudges, would be a step in the right direction,” senior Cindy Andrews said.
