After taking various safety precautions to ensure the team stayed safe, two players tested positive for the coronavirus, preventing them from playing their two games against Eastlike and Mount Si, respectively. The Vikings have taken precautions throughout the season.

“We have to wear our masks anytime we’re indoors. So if we’re in the locker room, if we’re on a bus on a bus ride.. we haven’t even gone in an opponent’s locker room, and we basically have changed outside. We bring chairs and tarps if we think the weather is going to be bad,” Head Coach Tom Tri said.

After coming back, Lake Stevens football hit it off against O’Dea at the Seattle Memorial Stadium and took their first win with a score of 20-3.
“We played really well under some adverse situations, and still found a way to win the game to come out on top,” Tri said.
The following week, they went against Archbishop Murphy ending in a 49-14 victory.

In their game against Snohomish, they once again won with a final score of 40-6, followed by a 56 -7 win against Mariner the week after. Adding on to their winning streak, the Vikings played a game against Jackson, resulting in a landslide score of 91-6. Throughout the season, the football team has taken their work seriously.

“Sports aren’t easy. At least the sport of football. It’s not easy. You’re always trying. So it’s pretty, pretty hard… I mean, at this level, we wanna win. And so yeah, it adds a little bit of stress, especially when, you know, the goal is to win the whole championship,” wide receiver and defensive back senior Trayce Hanks said.

The football team started preparation for this season during the summer months. Their practice and preparation have continuously shown results in back-to-back victories for the team.
“We’re lifting pretty much all summer long, three times a week, and we do speed agility twice a week. We have summer team camp that helps us get ready for the season…You work so hard in the weight room, watching film, offseason, practice, pre practice, post practice, more film and all why? I mean ultimately, it’s to score six points,” Tri said.

Lake Stevens played against Kamiak for their Homecoming and Senior Night.
“They played us really tough, they were undefeated. But we found a way to keep punching back and getting the ball down the field and got some key stops and ended up winning the game 35 to 28 for a homecoming victory. There is not a better place in the state of Washington to play home football game than Lake Stevens. The crowd is awesome. The band is awesome, the cheerleaders, it’s loud, it’s fun,” Tri said.
