This year the Lake Stevens boys swim and dive team had their best state meet ever. With a new season came new goals and records. Their goals and records hold a lot of value individually and as a whole for the team. These goals included making it to state and self-improvement on times as a team average.
This year, the boys set multiple records and won districts as well as placed 5th for an overall finish at the state meet. The team placed 1st in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly and 200 Freestyle Relay. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, the team set a state record with a time of 1:26.52. The relay team included juniors Camden Belvins-Mohr and Coren Coe, freshman Sebastian Erickson and sophomore Samuel Lamb.
“Districts went incredibly well, I broke a meet record and multiple team records along with Coren, Sam, Connor Weldon, and our resident freshman Sebastian Erickson,” Blevins-Mohr said.
The team got along well and it showed at the meets.
“I’m really looking forward to next season. I think overall the season went great. We really felt connected as a team, and I felt like that showed in our performance over the year as well,” junior Tristan Vaca said.
The Vikings swim team loved being able to practice and grow together to set themselves up for success. Their success was shown by Blevins-Mohr, as not only was he state champ this year, but he also set multiple new personal records.
Blevins-Mohr broke two school records at districts and state. These records are the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.98, and 100 butterfly with a time of 49.66.
The boy’s swim and dive team had a great season and looks to do even better next year. They hope to continue to set goals and meet them to improve.
