On June 21, 2024, up-and-coming artist Gracie Abrams released her second studio album, The Secret of Us. It has topped the charts and taken social media by storm with its catchy melodies and profound lyrics. The album features global pop star Taylor Swift in the song “us.” and was produced by Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, Julian Bunetta and Sam de Jong.
In October, following this release and her North American tour, which will take place internationally beginning in February, Abrams released The Secret of Us (Deluxe), which includes four new songs.
Singles include “Risk”, “I Love You, I’m Sorry” (ILYIS) and “Close to You”. “ILYIS” has been nominated in the Grammy categories for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video. The Secret of Us is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. These nominations follow Abrams’ Best New Artist nomination at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
“[My favorite song is] “Risk” because I was in a space where I did not want to do anything except lay in bed, and that song really brought me out of that space,” sophomore Byron Perkins said.
The album debuted at No. 2 on the billboard “Top 200,” and No. 1 on the billboard “Top Album Sales Chart.”
Abrams spent most of 2023 and part of 2024 opening for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, at 23 locations in North America, driving her popularity during her album’s release. Swift invited her to perform “us.”, the duet on The Secret of Us, with her on the night of the song’s release.
On The Secret of Us, Abrams showcases her thoughts on past and present relationships and her personal growth through the incredible lyricism within the album. She writes powerful bridges with an energetic build to a catchy chorus, making this album one of the best of 2024.
