Before winter break, a burst of holiday spirit transformed the hallways of Lake Stevens High School’s West Hall, thanks to the creative efforts of “Ms. Julie” Statton, a paraeducator in the CTE department at Lake Stevens High School.
Statton decorated the doors of most teachers’ classrooms in West Hall to bring holiday cheer. She personalized each door based on the teachers, class and interests. Statton said she was inspired by the subject taught by the teachers she helps.
“I thought about the teachers and what classes they teach, and that helped me to decide what their door would say,” Statton said.
An example of that was Andrea Ancich’s door, which featured cookies and candy canes because she teaches one culinary class.
“I feel it kinda motivates me to like, want to enter their class,” senior Roberto Mcelroy said. “ The doors show creativity.”
Thanks to Statton and additional teachers’ festivity, the halls of Lake Stevens High School were filled with holiday vibes, reminding teachers and students of the joy and entertainment this season brings.
“I think it’s fun to see something a little bit cheery and bright and colorful in the hallways. I mean the hallways are kinda this blend of color. I think adding a little bit of color to the door makes it a little bit more fun to the students and it brings a smile to their faces,” Statton said.
