Good news for all sports fans in Lake Stevens. Now that we are in Phase 3, fans will be permitted to attend sporting events. Since Lake Stevens High School has a large outdoor stadium, they will be permitted to fill it up to 25% capacity. This has brought great excitement to not only fans and the community, but the athletes as well. They are so thrilled to have spectators at their sporting events once again.

Last week was the first week where spectators were allowed in the building and all those involved could feel a major difference. The two major events with spectors were the football game on Friday night along with the girl’s soccer game on Tuesday. The players and coaching staff noticed a significant uplift with having people cheering them on as they played the sports they love.

“It’s amazing how much energy they bring and how much excitement,” soccer coach Scott Flanders said.

Many athletes are anxious to have fans back in the stands. Athletes believe that having fans in the stands will have a major positive event. As many may know, momentum tends to be a big part of tight sports games, and players are hoping that in many of their close games those fans can push them closer to victory. Members of all sports believe that with these fans in the stadium they can give them that extra boost to push them to perform at an even higher level.

“It will help us momentum wise. Fans will be cheering and it will push us to get a goal,” said Rush.

Some of the sports coming up for this next season are boys soccer, basketball, track and field, and many more, and having fans can really make a difference in their seasons.
When speaking to athletes of a variety of sports they have many different things that they look forward to the most such as; family seeing them play, the energy of the crowd, their friends finally seeing them play in person, and much more.

“They will be cheering us on!” sophomore Lucas Joehnk said.
