The Lake Stevens High School girls volleyball team competes in post-season games with the intention of going to state. More than excited, the Vikings defeated the Snohomish Panthers on October 31. “Nothing feels better than being the underdog and taking down Goliath in playoffs,” coach Dawn Hanson said.

The Lake Stevens High School girls volleyball team is on an exciting path in their post-season games. On Saturday, October 31, the Lady Vikings took down the Snohomish girls volleyball team, ending the game with a score of 3-0.

“We played really well over the weekend and cohesively as a team. It was really fun to beat our rivals in their gym,” Volleyball team captain senior Madison Solis said.

Not only was this game a fun win, but it was also the first gateway to continuing in post-season playoffs.

“[Saturday’s] game was important because it was the first round of playoffs, and it is always important to move to the right side of the bracket. Plus, beating Snohomish is always a good goal to have,” coach Dawn Hanson said.

Unfortunately, the Monroe Bearcats defeated LSHS on Tuesday, November 3with a 3-0 victory. But with a strong growth mindset, the loss has not put a damper on the LSHS girls volleyball team’s determination.

[Tuesday’s game] was a good way to prepare for our upcoming game on Thursday, [November 5]. Monroe is a great team, and we definitely learned a lot playing them,” Solis said.

Even though Thursday’s game did not end well for the Vikings, the volleyball team are still proud of their season. Solis felt that the volleyball players were extraordinary people this year and every win was full of excitement.
