Say goodbye to outrageous senior picture costs

Class of 2016 pays a fraction of the cost for their pictures

With the price for senior pictures on the rise, many seniors of the Lake Stevens High School Class of 2016 opted to ask their peers, rather than professional photographers, to take their senior pictures this year. Seniors Gabrielle Mangaser and Jake Douglas are two of the many LSHS students who took senior pictures for their peers.

“My close friends liked how their pictures turned out. Word got around and next thing I knew I was taking pictures for all sorts of different people,” Douglas said.

For a fraction of the cost and twice the fun, Mangaser and Douglas, much like many other LSHS senior picture photographers, feel exhilarated by the activity.

“The one thing I love about taking pictures,” Douglas said enthusiastically, “is how it has given me the opportunity to spend time with many different people and build relationships with people I would have never talked to if it weren’t for photography,” Douglas said.

The quality of these senior pictures, although not done by true professionals, is extraordinary. Mangaser said she uses editing software to make all of the senior pictures that she takes look as professional as possible.

And as for next year’s senior class, both Mangaser and Douglas are open to taking senior pictures to reduce high costs.
