Artistic and creative students seem to be flourishing at Lake Stevens High School; students are expressing their artistic abilities in numerous ways both in and out of school. One of those students is senior Jade Rider. Feeling that she is able to effectively convey herself through her drawings, Rider’s capability to create art has recently soared.

Time is essential for Rider, as she feels time creates more of an emotional connection with the piece. Rider feels much more fulfilled when she spends a lot of time on a drawing than when she quickly creates something in only one day. Gaining ties to her artwork, Rider always seems to find a great amount of pride when she sees her dedication payoff.

“I think my drawing of Link from “Legend of Zelda” [is my best piece of artwork] because it was the one that I spent the most time on,” Rider said.

Although time-consuming, the act of creating art is very valuable to many people and anyone from young children to the elderly can, in someway, appreciate it. Apart from the appreciation of art, the actual creation of art is marvelous and not so common. Rider firmly believes that everyone has his/her own talents and some people just happen to be artistic.

“I do think that with hard work, one has the ability to be artistic,” Rider said.
