Angela Morley

Angela Morley was an English composer and conductor born Mar. 10, 1924. Morley was nominated numerous times for her outstanding musical work and was the first openly transgender person nominated for an Academy Award.

After years in the industry, Morley transitioned publicly in 1972 and worked behind the scenes of many productions due to fear for her safety.

Morley relocated to Los Angeles in 1973 where she continued to arrange and compose music for a variety of American television projects including Wonder Woman and Falcon Crest.

Morley collaborated with John Williams during 1970 on Superman and The Empire Strikes Back. Morley also contributed to the scores of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Home Alone, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York among others.

Angela Morley passed away Jan. 14, 2009, at the age of 84 due to a heart attack.
