Tis the season to be sporty

Winter sports are here

It is now December, so get ready for winter sports to start! The sports starting are girls basketball, boys basketball, boys swimming and dive, and wrestling.

Junior Jesse King, one of the boys basketball players said, “I am very excited for the season. I’ve been working hard all off-season and I’m just ready to be out there every Tuesday and Friday night with my guys. I think it’s going to be a very competitive season. There are a lot of solid teams in the Wesco league and every night will be a battle, but I know the team is prepared and I have faith in all of them. We have a good chance to win Wesco this year. I feel very confident about the team.  I think we have one of the best backcourts in the league, as well as some of the top players in the league. I trust every single guy on the team and I love them to death. We have so much chemistry together and I think it will show itself on the court. We are going to be tough to beat this year and like I said we can win Wesco.”

Sophomore Sarah Dominick, one of the girls basketball players, said, “I’m excited for the season but kind of nervous, I think the season will go pretty well if we are consistent with our wins and how we will play. I love the team, there’s many amazing girls and we’re all getting so close. There’s friendships being made that will hopefully last a lifetime.”

Senior Isaac Dinh on the boys wrestling team said, “I am very excited for the season, it’s the best time of the year! I have confidence that our season will be one for the history books, because we are underdogs this year and no one’s ready for what this season will hold. The team this year is great, after losing great leaders like Michael Solar and Jake Douglas we had some kids step up and our team this year is one of the closest teams I’ve ever been on, definitely a brotherhood.”

We are excited to see how this season goes for all of our winter sports and wishing for the best season they could have. We would also like to give a huge shout out to Gabby Gunterman for making all area Herald player of the year. Also, Lily Eason Made 2nd year team player. Make sure to congratulate them if you see these two volleyball players. Good luck to all Lake Stevens sports this season!
