A sense of community is already prevalent at Lake Stevens High School, however, that doesn’t mean outstanding individuals in our community should go without a more formal form of recognition. Senior Luc Violette is an example of the amazing individuals at our school that deserve to have their story told. Through his high school career, Violette has had interests in Robotics, Engineering, Physics and curling. “I always separate my goals between school and curling,“ Luc says. “For curling, I hope to continue playing as long as I can, hopefully close to the rest of my life. Hopefully get to an Olympics and medal there.” As for his education, Violette is considering getting a degree in engineering. However, at the moment he is consumed in the world of curling. Early in the month of October, Luc was away at a tournament with his team. His team consists of individuals that picked each other as teammates in order to be successful in competition. In February of 2016, Luc was attending the Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, where he received a silver medal. Two years ago, when Violette was a sophomore, he was featured in the Valhalla, where he stated it was one of his goals to go to the Youth Olympics and medal. With his hard work and dedication to the sport, Luc did just that and now hopes to go on to compete in the Olympic games. In addition to curling, Violette enjoys watersports, paintballing with his friends, fishing, and spending time with his girlfriend as of 2 years, Senior Kaela Raupp. This school year, he is looking forward to participating in senior traditions and the Junior World Championship for curling. When asked about things he would’ve done differently in his high school career, Luc states that he wish he would’ve taken French earlier and gotten his credits out of the way sooner rather than later. He tells sophomores to make a plan for their credits and get to know teachers and counselors in order to be successful. Next time you pass this curling star in the halls, wish him luck on his next endeavor as this young athlete is bound to have a bright future and an amazing career.
