Seahawks recognize coach Tom Tri

LSHS football coach Tom Tri awarded Seahawks Coach of the Week

Two high school football coaches are selected each week as the Seattle Seahawks Coaches of the Week, and the Lake Stevens High School football coach, Tom Tri, was awarded the title during the tenth week of the high school football season.

“I found out when Paul Johns from the Seahawks called me and told me that I had won the Seahawks Coach of the Week Award. I was very excited and honored to win the award. It made me feel a great sense of Viking Pride,” Tri said.

In addition to Tri receiving the recognition and honor , a five hundred dollar grant was also awarded to the LSHS football program.

“I plan to invest in the football program’s future by adding new training equipment to the weight room,” Tri said.

The football players who Tri coaches talk very highly of him as both a coach and as a person; they believe he deserved this recognition.

“I’ve played for [Tri] for three years now. He’s a very intense coach that will push you to be your best. I think he deserved to be the Seahawks coach of the week,” senior Conor Widmann said.

With pride and thankfulness, coach Tri said, ”I would like to add that this is a team award won by all of the players and coaches and is a representation of the successful season we have had so far. The award means that our players are successful on the field. We are executing and playing well and other people are taking notice.”
